About this project

This quality improvement audit aims to assess compliance with local and national guidelines regarding justification and documentation for emergency CT imaging requests. Inappropriate or poorly documented imaging requests can lead to unnecessary radiation exposure, delays in patient care, and increased workload for radiology departments. The project will retrospectively review CT requests over a defined period to evaluate whether clinical indications, relevant history, and imaging appropriateness criteria were adequately documented. Findings will be compared against departmental standards, with recommendations proposed to improve compliance and streamline request quality. The project is suitable for students and junior doctors interested in radiology, audit methodology, and quality improvement. We hope to present the results locally and potentially submit the work for conference presentation or publication.
